Sheikh Ode Akinola Animashaun

(1853-1918)

Description

This is a product of research into the life of an icon in the history of colonial Lagos. As an educationist of both flavours – Western and Islamic – he made selfless and successful efforts to prepare the nursery beds for the educational, moral and spiritual nurture of the Lagos Muslim youths. Indeed, it was he who started the Muslim School which became the first Government Muslim School in Lagos.

One would find in this book how Sheikh Idris Animashaun’ s experience of apprenticeship, journey to different lands, exposure to various cultures, adventures to different trades and businesses as well as engagements in religious and public services – complemented his visionary leadership in no small measure.
